The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has provided free medical treatment to residents of Abaji Area Council, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of the medical outreach in Abaji, Vice President of NMA, Kingsley Enweremadu, disclosed that the association has registered about 100 persons for eye surgery, excluding those who would be receiving free eyeglasses and corrective lenses.

Enweremadu observed that the essence of the outreach was to ensure that residents in the community regain confidence in the general hospital already established by the Federal Government.

He said: “We want to make sure that this particular hospital is used and to make sure that those who have lost faith in the hospital can come back and see that it is a functional environment.”

Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Abdulrahaman Ajiya, in his remarks, regretted that the people of the council have various health challenges despite the continuous commitment shown since the inception of the present administration, which he believed has provided basic health care for his people.
