Wife of Mr. Bitram Boyi Baka, an employee of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, who was allegedly shot dead by policeman at a local beer parlour, called gidan zana, has appealed to the authorities to do bring her husband’s killers to book.

Narrating her ordeal, Mrs. Hauwa Bitram, told newsmen yesterday in Gombe that her husband was shot dead by a corporal near the police headquarters.

She said on the fateful day, her husband went out to see his friends in the evening. Before he arrived the scene, there was a disagreement between a corporal and an Inspector and the corporal said he would kill someone that day.

“He went and took his gun. But before he returned, the Inspector had left the place and my husband came and sat on the chair innocently, as he didn’t know what had happened. When the corporal came, he opened fire and killed my husband.”

She lamented the way police authorities handled the case, adding that the police didn’t condole the family, talkless of investigating the matter in order bring the culprit to justice.

A relative of the deceased, Solomon Baba Didi, said the deceased left two children, all girls, and they are expecting police authorities to assist them to take care of their education.

When contacted, the Plateau State Police Commissioner, Mr. Austin Iwar, said: “Police had dismissed the suspect and he is presently being remanded in prison. He is in prison and there is nothing to hide.”
