The endorsement was made during a rally organised by the political stakeholders in the area on Monday.

The Chairman of Taraba ALGON, Ibrahim Stephen Agya said the nod for Ishaku’s reelection was based on the developmental strides of the administration in the state, saying: “This necessitated our support for his re-election. The good works of the governor especially in the areas of security; agriculture and others motivated us to endorse him for second term.”

Flanked by the council’s leadership, Agya said, “The people of Taraba, especially those at the grassroots were pleased with the governor’s peace initiatives and his developmental strides.”

The chairmen also called on the governor’s supporters to join the organisation to ensure that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government retains control of the state in the next governorship election. He stressed: “This would enable the governor to consolidate on the gains so far achieved.”

The body also commended Ishaku over the matured manner he has been handling the ongoing crisis between the armed herdsmen and farmers in the state.

The Special Advisor the governor on Political Matters, Abubakar Bawa, said his principal would continue to embark on projects that would benefit the people.

Meanwhile, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibeju Lekki, which include Alhaji Tajudeen Balogun; Woman Leader, Alhaja Waidat Sodiq; Youth Leader, Saheed Balogun and others said the lawmaker has performed well and deserved their vote of confidence for reelection to represent Lagos East in 2019.

According to them, “The quality of representation delivered by Ashafa since 2011 has been wonderful.”

They also commended the senator for attracting several developmental initiatives to the area.

Ashafa, who expressed appreciation that people from his home ward and council found him worthy to continue to represent them for another term promised not to rest on his oars. He said, “I am very grateful to the executives and members of our ward for this vote of confidence and endorsement to represent you in the Senate for another term. I did not expect this when I was coming here today as I only came here to celebrate Easter with you. I do not take this lightly. I promise not to let you down. The truth is, I cannot do this alone, I count on your usual support and I believe that together, we can do more.”
