Ahead of the scheduled January 6, 2018 local council elections in Delta State, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his predecessors, Mr. James Ibori and Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan have assured that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win massively due to “the tremendous contributions and of the party to the development of the state.”

Speaking during the PDP campaign flag-off in Koko, Oghara and Sapele for Warri North, Ethiope West and Sapele local governments, Okowa hinged his confidence on the massive turnout of PDP supporters and citizens of the state in all campaign rallies that the party had organised in the recent times saying, “Our candidates will win landslide in the local government elections next year.”

Ibori, while addressing the people in Urhobo commended the PDP supporters while he also urged them to turn out massively to vote all the party’s candidates in the election.Immediate past governor, Uduaghan said Warri North has always been the stronghold of the PDP, saying it was the doing of the Almighty that there was no loss of lives in the choice of the chairmanship candidate during the primary. He however called on Okowa to seal the peace process already initiated in the area.

The governor emphasised on unity and commitment to the ideals of the party by leaders as a veritable tool that would enable it emerge victorious in the elections.According to Okowa, “PDP is a party that believes in planning hence the vigorous campaigns to ensure victory for all our candidates. With the crowd of party faithful here today, there is no doubt that the PDP’s candidates would win landslide come January 6.”

He assured that Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) would be empowered to carry out more projects in the areas in 2018.While he commended the people for their support for his administration, the governor assured them that the PDP government would continue to deliver on its campaign promises, adding that the Sapele Road dualisation and market projects would be completed before May 2018.

He also acknowledged the contributions of Ibori to the growth of the PDP in Delta saying saying, “Ibori built a solid foundation for all of us in Delta State and by the grace of God the foundation will remain solid.”

State chairman of the party, Kingsley Esiso expressed confidence that the PDP will win in the polls, stressing, “there is no other political party in the state; other political parties should come out and campaign if they trust in themselves.”

Receiving defectors from other parties led by Keke Omuvwie and Abel in Oghara, and Sapele, Esiso assured them that PDP accords equal opportunities to all members. He had earlier presented party flags to the chairmanship candidates, Aduge Okorodudu, Solomon Golley and Eugene Inoaghan at Koko, Oghara and Sapele respectively.
