Deputy minority whip in the Senate, Biodun Olujimi, has called on all the political parties participating in the Ekiti State Governorship election slated for July14 this year, to pick their candidates from the Southern Senatorial District of the state in the interest of equity, fairness and justice.

Olujimi said that while the other two zones have been producing governors, the southern zone has been shortchanged in the scheme of things, saying that it is time for different political parties presenting candidates to give the zone the opportunity.

The senator who represents Ekti South in the National Assembly stated this yesterday, noting that whereas the Central District has produced two governors spanning a period of 12 years, the North has also produced two governors spanning a period of seven and half years.

She said that her intention to contest for the governorship position was to liberate the southern senatorial district from oppression; injustice and marginalization by the other zones, which have now arrogated the right to produce the governor of the state to themselves.
