With the level of turn out at the event, one can confidently say that night life has finally returned.

Speaking at the event, the Creative Director of the Miss Anambra pageant and head judge on the night Miss Nwando Okwuosa (Miss Nigeria 2003), said this year’s competition was keenly contested as many beautiful and intelligent girls entered for the show.
“In the end, we the judges picked Miss Chidinma Okeke for her grace, poise, elegance, beauty and intelligence,” she said.
Others, who made up the judging panel, are Omotu Celia Bissong (MBGN 2003 and cast member of Desperate Housewives Africa and Tinsel), Beat FM OAP Olisa Adibua and Fashion Consultant Ifeanyi Okonkwo made up the judging panel.

According to Uche Nworah, MD/CEO of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, the pageant has grown in stature, as reputable brands such as Kia Motors, Air Peace, Rockland Real Estate, Rise Clincs, M-P Infrastructure Ltd, New Crystal Communications Ltd, Let’s Partner With You Ltd etc have signed long term sponsorship deals with the organization.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank Ndi Anambra for turning out en masse to witness the occasion. What I can promise you is that next year’s edition will even be bigger and better and we hope that that other brands will come on board.”

Last year, the management of the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) conceived a beauty pageant tagged Miss Independence, which saw Chizoba Ejike, emerge as winner. Following the level of success recorded by the project, the pageant was elevated to Miss Anambra Beauty Pageant, with commitment to the development of Anambra Women.

This is part of our commitment to the development of Anambra women; Miss Anambra in a beauty pageant aimed at showcasing beauty and brains. The pageant would usher in a new experience in the world of pageantry in Anambra, as well as honour outstanding women. Organising this event and other similar events is in line with the mandate of the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) and its objectives of informing, educating and entertaining our audience. It is also a manifestation of our repositioning from being a broadcast organisation to a media and entertainment brand, Nworah said.

He therefore thanked Governor Willie Obiano for providing enabling environment for social and entertainment activities, such as the beauty pageant, to take place in the state.

Anambra State under the watch of Obiano has continued to record progress across all the sectors. Having provided an enabling environment for businesses to thrive through robust and sustainable policies especially in the area of security and protection of lives and property, nightlife has returned in the state. Ndi Anambra living outside the state, who usually come back home for family events during weekends and those living in Anambra State are once again savouring the social scene in the state. Before now, you hardly hear of social events in the state due to security challenges. But with what the current administration has done to secure the state, it is now possible for people to come out and attend social events without fear, he said.
