Adeboye: Celebrating a shining light at 75

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

It is no small comfort to a third world country, ever wriggling in the lamentation of the abysmal shortage of quality leadership that once in a while, Providence bestows on us some five-star generals in our scanty hall of fame. Such is the person and ministry of the revered General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch .A. Adeboye, fondly called Daddy G. O., who recently turned 75. With legendary simplicity and unalloyed commitment to Christ’s gospel, the former University don, from most humble beginnings, has built both a global Church and a fiery army of faithful, who now adorn the globe with an enviable presence in almost 200 countries! And still counting… It is not a small thing, too, that his has been an untainted testimony in an area of life, which increasingly buckles under the weight of modern and earthly pressures.

Thanks to God that from this not-yet-God-forsaken corner of the Universe, someone of his stature has gracefully emerged and has, indeed, been counted among the world’s 50 most influential persons by the Newsweek Magazine. This is a stellar reason to trust the God of Daddy G.O. to send us more of such giants in every sector of our national life to anchor our long-awaited, and desperately-needed, national renewal.

In gratitude to God, we celebrate this great lover of music and praise with a song to the well-loved tune of Charles Wesley’s ‘O for a thousand tongues to sing.’ Many happy returns to a good daddy!

Seventy-five Years Of Great Grace
(Tune: O for a thousand tongues to sing) Seventy-five years of great grace All glory be to God
For daddy Adeboye’s life
Thank you Almighty God.

For the blessings of a great home
And of good health and peace
The blessings of wife and children
To God be all praises.
Seventy-five years of victory
And destiny preserved
Seventy-five years witnesses
Of the wonders of God.
Seventy- five years during which
God called His own son forth
To teach and preach the Lord Jesus
And bring abundant life.
Mighty God of times and seasons
Give to daddy more grace
Uphold him with divine powers
Take him to greater heights.
To run and never be weary
To walk and not be faint
Propelled by great passion for Christ By the Holy Spirit. Amen.
