An author once wrote: “Dream big, but start small; do what you can do at a time.” “You are likely to vomit your dreams if you take too much at a time. Take it one after the other and don’t over-eat the dreams you have! Dream big, but start small!”

No accomplished brand started as big as they are today. They first began as a dream and birthed in a corner of a small place before taking flight. Surely, the secret of people are in their stories and it is not different with Nigeria and Africa’s foremost fashion brand, Xtra Brides Lagos, founded by Oyetomiwa Elizabeth Daniel.

Similar to many tales of successful and impactful global brands that we all have heard of, Xtra Brides Lagos was borne out of the desire to provide solutions and create intervention in the local fashion industry in Nigeria.

After graduating from Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, the Xtra Brides Lagos visioner , attended a fashion-training institute in Lagos. However, she saw the need for further knowledge and travelled to Paris, France, where she added the knowledge value that has set her apart from the pack as the leading designer in the continent.

In an expose about her journey into the world of fashion, the Xtra Brides Lagos founder revealed that she made her first creative design in her small apartment upon her return from France.

“I came back to Nigeria and started my business in a tiny room in my boys’ quarters. I remember how excited I was when the very first client saw a dress I had posted on Instagram and paid N30,000 for it. My heart was in my mouth as it was a sign of fulfilment. I said to myself, ‘Yes, this is the start of something great'”, the Xtra Brides Lagos founder narrated.

Two years after she returned to the country from Paris, the capital of world fashion, Oyetomiwa Daniel has become an enigma in Nigeria’s fashion circle, as well as in Africa. According to the entrepreneur, she believed  she had what it takes to become the next big thing on the global stage in the industry.

“While I was furthering my training in Paris in 2019, I concentrated on detailing, which was the fashion course I took back in Nigeria. Back then, I knew I had all I needed to be the next big thing,” reflected the CEO of Xtra Brides Lagos.

Continuing, the owner of Xtra Brides Lagos said that, “as a young girl, I had a dream of being the number one couture designer in Africa. Even at that young age, I was fascinated by exquisite clothing.

“I see myself on the global map, dominating the fashion world and changing the narrative of black women through fashion. Xtra Brides Lagos is not just an international brand servicing top celebrities and classic women across the globe but a fashion brand admired by thousands”, added the CEO of Xtra Brides Lagos.
