Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has apologised to her colleague, Laide Bakare, following a public disagreement sparked by her reaction during a recent podcast interview, urging both parties to put their differences aside.
Badmus issued the apology on Tuesday, October 20, in a statement shared on Instagram, acknowledging that her response when Bakare’s name was mentioned during her appearance on content creator Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast could have appeared dismissive.
“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.
Addressing Bakare directly, the actress added, “Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace and I genuinely wish you well.”
Badmus said personal growth involved learning from past experiences and letting go of disagreements, urging both parties to move forward without resentment.“We’re all growing, learning and becoming better versions of ourselves. Sometimes maturity is simply knowing when to let go and move forward,” she stated.
She concluded her message with an appeal for reconciliation, writing, “Joo maa binu. No negativity. No grudges. Let love lead and peace reigns.”
The apology follows a viral clip from the podcast in which Isbae U named Bakare as one of his favourite actresses. Badmus appeared to react with a hiss and a change in facial expression, prompting discussions on social media about the relationship between the two actresses.
Bakare subsequently criticised Badmus in a post on Instagram on Monday, October 19, accusing her of repeatedly damaging her reputation despite warnings to stop.
She described Badmus as ungrateful and claimed she had played a significant role in helping her colleague grow in the entertainment industry, according to reports on the renewed feud. The disagreement has renewed attention on the actresses’ history of public exchanges. In 2024, the pair reportedly clashed after Badmus made a comment about Bakare’s outfit at her book launch. Bakare expressed disappointment over what she considered a lack of support from a colleague she described as a childhood friend.Their disagreement resurfaced in April 2025 at the Lagos premiere of Eniola Ajao’s film, Owambe Thieves. Videos from the event showed a tense exchange between the actresses, with Badmus reportedly insisting that they were no longer friends. The incident was covered in reports on their earlier confrontation. The latest development comes amid other public conversations involving the actresses, including Bakare’s previous comments about their relationship and her claims of having supported Badmus earlier in her career. Further details of the latest dispute have been reported in coverage of Bakare’s criticism.Badmus’s latest statement appears to signal a willingness to move beyond the dispute, although Bakare’s response to the apology had not been confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
