The Real Housewives of New York City recently released a new teaser clip on Peacock’s Twitter page, giving fans a glimpse of the upcoming season featuring a completely new cast.

The long-running Bravo series, which premiered in 2008, is set to air its 14th season on July 16th, but viewers won’t see the original cast members making a return.
After receiving negative reviews for season 13, the showrunners decided to recast the series entirely. Last October, Andy Cohen announced the new diverse lineup of housewives: Sai De Silva, Erin Dana Lichey, Brynn Whitfield, Jenna Lyons, Ubah Hassan, and Jessel Taank.
In the teaser clip, the new housewives are shown playing an icebreaker game in a spacious living room. They are given a list of addictions to choose from, such as shopping, arguing, alcohol, and p**n.
While most of them chose shopping, Ubah Hassan, a Somali-Canadian model, surprises the group by revealing that she isn’t addicted to any of those things.
This revelation sparks curiosity among her co-stars, especially Jenna Lyons, the former president of J. Crew, who asks what Ubah is addicted to. Erin Dana Lichey, the owner of a design firm, playfully suggests “gifts” as an answer.
However, Ubah shocks the housewives by admitting that she is addicted to bananas, referring to an incident involving a banana she saw someone eating earlier.
Despite their skepticism, Ubah insists that she is referring to the fruit and tries to provide some cultural context before the teaser clip abruptly ends.
Filming for the 14th season started in the fall of 2022, and the official premiere date was announced in May via an Instagram teaser featuring a shot of a red apple being bitten.
The cast announcement for the rebooted season was made during BravoCon in 2022, with Lizzy Savetsky initially set to join the cast. However, she later announced on Instagram that she had quit the series due to online bullying and “anti-Semitic threats.”
According to sources, the drama between Lizzy and her co-star Brynn Whitfield, along with the request for a Jewish matchmaker, also played a role in Savetsky’s departure from the show. These issues led to Lizzy’s decision to leave the Real Housewives franchise in late November.
The revamped show will feature a new group of seven dynamic women who thrive in New York City’s diverse and vibrant social circles.
The official logline describes how these women have made their mark in various fields, including fashion, real estate, philanthropy, and social influence.
They will share their lives as they juggle careers, family life, and bustling social calendars in the city that never sleeps.
The original cast members, including Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, and Heather Thomson, will not be returning to the show. However, there have been hints of a potential spin-off called RHONY: Legacy featuring the original cast. Issues regarding the offered compensation and the number of episodes promised to the returning stars have led to uncertainty about the spin-off’s future.
Sources have indicated that the network has lost interest in pursuing the Legacy edition and is more focused on the fun, funny, and aspirational reboot of RHONY.
