Aderibigbe Oyinkansola, better known by her stage name Ayra Starr, has opened up about her relationship status. She says she wants to fall in love.

The Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer has revealed that she’s open to experiencing love for the first time. In a recent interview, the 21-year-old admitted that despite her reputation as a “lover girl,” she’s never been in a fully committed relationship.

Starr, who has been focused on her music career since she was 15, attributes her single
status to her intense work ethic. However, she’s now ready to explore the possibilities of love and has even written a song about what it might look like.

“I want to fall in love,” Starr said. “I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story‘ about what love would look like if I was. I am a lover girl deep in my heart, I’m just very strong headed about it.”

Tems also shared similar sentiments in an interview, revealing that she’s never been in love. Ayra and Tems are considered among the biggest female musicians in Africa. They have also expressed admiration for each other’s work.

Ayra also gives her own definition of what love should be like.

She wrote: “I feel like people get infatuated, and they call that falling in love. If you’re blind, that is not love. Love is when you’ve seen the person, their nyash is open and you’re like ‘I still want it. I still want that.’ I want someone to see my goods and be like, ‘Yeah, give me some of that.”
