School leaders, educators, and other education sector stakeholders have met to strategise ahead of the “Let There Be Teachers,” 2025 conference, which is scheduled for September 20, 2025, at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos State.
The meeting, which brought together members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and other stakeholders, focused on school growth and sustainability as well as plans to mobilise teachers to break the Guinness World Record attempt with over 60,000 teachers expected at the conference.
The unprecedented event is designed to spotlight teachers’ issues and strengthen advocacy for education reform.
General Secretary of NAPPS, Luyi Armstrong, said, “This is a precursor to the event coming up next Saturday. We are excited that, for the first time in our country’s history, teachers will gather on such a scale to discuss their challenges and celebrate their contributions. All teachers are encouraged to attend.”
Also, the conference convener and education advocate, Oluwaseyi Anifowose, highlighted the importance of collaboration, saying: “The growth of our schools is directly tied to the growth of our teachers. When we empower schools, we empower educators, and ultimately, we secure the future of education in Nigeria.”
On his part, Co-founder of One Million Teachers (1MT), Dr Hakeem Subair, emphasised the role of educators in nation-building.
“It is time for society to pay more attention to teachers’ issues. Teachers play a remarkable role in shaping society and building harmony,” he noted.
However, the meeting featured contributions from prominent education figures, including education entrepreneurs, such as Ronke Posh Adeniyi, Rizma Butt (co-founder of 1MT), strategist Rotimi Eyitayo, innovation expert Rhoda Odigboh, and global education consultant Prof. Akin Akinpelu.
Their sessions explored innovation, leadership, and strategies for sustainable school growth.
