In August, the INEC in Lagos State announced the schedule for the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, warning residents against multiple and underage registrations.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Ayobami Salami, said online registration would commence on 18 August 2025, while physical biometric capture would begin on 25 August 2025 and run until 30 August 2026.
He stated that offenders involved in underage or multiple registrations would be handed over to law enforcement agencies.
Prof. Salami said registrants are required to present their National Identification Numbers or any recognised national means of identification to verify their identities. He added that the commission remains committed to maintaining the integrity of the registration process.
He explained that the CVR exercise is intended for citizens who have attained 18 years of age, individuals seeking replacement of damaged or lost Permanent Voter Cards, and those wishing to transfer their voting rights to other polling units or states.
The REC said registration centres would operate at the INEC state secretariat in Yaba and at all 20 local government area offices across Lagos State. He encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the opportunity to register and participate in the electoral process.
