Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Etinosa Idemudia, has called for punishment for people who make false accusations, amid renewed public conversations around rape claims.
Taking to her Instagram page on Thursday, she wrote, “The boy child needs protection just as much as the girl child. End false allegations today! I recommend jail time for false accusers”
Her post comes amid similar comments earlier made by former Big Brother Naija housemate, Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, on rape and false allegations.
In her Instagram video, Tacha described rape as a serious issue and warned against using it to settle personal scores.
“Hold your male child by the neck,” she said, urging mothers to be intentional about raising boys.
Tacha also said, “When you come out, and you are not sincere about real issues, it takes away from the real victims,” as she argued that false accusations can make it harder for survivors to be believed.
She added, “Forget how our mothers used to do it,” while calling for better teaching of consent, respect, and boundaries for boys.
Tacha further linked the debate to social media culture, claiming that women who speak up often face attacks online.
“It is so bad that even when women speak against rape, they get trolled and bullied into silence,” she said.
While acknowledging that men can also be victims, Tacha maintained that most perpetrators are men, and urged accountability in public conversations.
