There is a very calculated approach to Adviser Nowamagbe’s “Muentinyaosa.” The album does not follow trends and tries to fit in the contemporary Afrobeats sound. Rather, it takes the path of pure emotion, culture, and patience. Featuring lyrics in the native Benin tongue and backed by the strong Edo music tradition, the song stands out from throwaway material right away.
The very first thing that comes to mind is the introduction. The track starts with some overlapping vocals before the drumbeat settles in. It creates an introspective mood, one that helps prepare the listener for a very intimate and personal experience instead of just listening casually. In its five minutes of playtime, the song “Muentinyaosa” evolves into something more than just another commercial track. It is an inspirational discussion on perseverance and how to remain focused even when things become difficult.
This makes the song even more appealing due to its rootedness in the idea of identity. Nowamagbe, has always been known for creating socially conscious music, which is rooted in his background as an Edo man, and that’s exactly what he does here with the same degree of commitment. The songwriting is mature, while the presentation is smooth and self-assured.
Much of the emotions expressed can also be attributed to the co-production by UK-based music producer and audio engineer Ademola Adedugbe professionally known as Kakz. Before he even migrated to the United Kingdom in 2023, Kakz had already been actively involved in music production and engineering, having developed a style that was all about atmospheres and clear expression of emotions. In terms of being a contributor to a record by one of Edo music’s established voices, it is enough to have a resume like that. However, the impact that the presence of Kakz has on the production cannot be underestimated either.
The production does not overcrowd the instrumental with excessive arrangements. Harmonies are given enough time to settle in, transitions happen slowly, and the overall emotional atmosphere of the record is maintained consistently throughout its duration. This might be hard to accomplish in a culturally based song when emotions matter more than tempo. Thanks to Kakz’s contribution, this balance is preserved skillfully. Although his presence does not interfere in any way with the overall message being delivered, it still adds value to each and every emotion that the song attempts to convey.
In light of Nowamagbe’s reputation as an artist who has made a name for himself as a successful adviser in the Edo music industry, Kakz’s collaboration on a track that has been streamed more than 70,000 times since its debut in 2025 speaks volumes about his artistic prowess at this stage in his career.
