Don Lamba debuts ‘Afro-Whistle’, ‘The God’s’

As the Nigerian music industry continues to surge globally, new voices are emerging to carry its legacy forward. One name making a bold entrance is Don Lamba. Known offstage as Onyekachukwu Mba, Don Lamba is not just another artist, he’s on a mission to redefine the sound of Nigerian music. With an innovative mix of Highlife and Afrobeat, Don Lamba brings a distinctive flavor to the scene, debuting his two-track project ‘Afro-Whistle’ and ‘The Gods’.

Alongside his brother, KC Wise, Don Lamba co-founded CSE Records, a label dedicated to developing the next generation of Nigerian stars. Taking inspiration from icons like Don Jazzy, Mr. Eazi, and Davido. Lamba envisions CSE as a hub where new talent can flourish. Already, artists like Mofizzay and 3plebeatz, signed under CSE, are gaining traction, further proving that Lamba’s influence extends beyond his own music.

In a brief chat, Don Lamba cites Olamide as a major influence. “Olamide’s ability to lift artists like Lil Kesh, Fireboy, and Asake has inspired me,” he shared. “I want to play a similar role in the lives of new artists.”

His two-track project, ‘Afro-Whistle’ and ‘The Gods’, showcases his musical prowess and willingness to experiment with unique sounds. ‘Afro-Whistle’, the lead track, is an exciting fusion of rhythm, melody, and most uniquely whistling.

“I’ve been whistling for years. One day, while praising God, I thought, why not integrate whistling into my music?. I want my music to feel authentic but also push boundaries,” he said.
The track, featuring Oba Naija and Ajura, is an innovative blend of tradition and modern Afrobeats, with Lamba’s whistling adding a signature twist.

On the flip side, ‘The Gods’, a collaboration with 3plebeatz, delivers powerful Afrobeat energy with introspective lyrics. It’s a track that not only celebrates resilience and success that comes with it, but also showcases both artists’ versatility, blending infectious rhythms with thought-provoking themes.

As Don Lamba steps into the limelight, his story is one of ambition, creativity, and a drive to elevate others. With the release of ‘Afro-Whistle’ and ‘The Gods’, Don Lamba is proving that he’s not just another name in Afrobeats, he’s actively shaping the future of the genre.
