The premiere, scheduled for Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the UN House on Diplomatic Drive, Abuja, promises to be a star-studded event highlighting an issue of growing concern in Africa.
Among the dignitaries expected to attend are Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, who will serve as the event’s chairman, and Ike Neliaku, President and Chairman of the Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), who will deliver the keynote address. Both figures have expressed strong support for the project after meetings with the film’s production team, helmed by producer and director Emmanuel Eyaba and associate producer Alex Nwankwo.
Sen. Nwoko, while endorsing the project, expressed his concerns about the harmful impact of fake news, drawing from his personal experiences as a victim of social media misinformation. He emphasized the need for legislative efforts to curb the spread of fake news, which he described as a “cancer” capable of eroding Nigeria’s societal fabric. The senator voiced his commitment to supporting initiatives that aim to combat misinformation across the country.
Echoing these sentiments, NIPR President Ike Neliaku praised ‘When Wolves Cry’ for addressing a crucial issue and confirmed his readiness to deliver the keynote speech at the event. Neliaku acknowledged the film’s importance in sparking conversations around the dangers of fake news and its implications for society.
Endorsed by UNESCO, ‘When Wolves Cry’ features an impressive cast of top African actors, including Syndy Emade, Francis Duru, MC Mbakara, Sydney Diala, Steve Eboh, Pauline Idemudia, Alex Nwankwo, and many more.
