The show features 16 rival dance crews selected from the 36 states of the country, using a fusion of Indian and Nigerian music and dance steps to battle for the Best Dance Group and Best Solo Performer prizes.
Bollywood dance routines, catchy Afrobeats dance steps and music from both nations will be on display week-after-week for the 20 episodes of the show.
The best group winner goes home with N2.5 million; the first runner-up gets N1.5 million, while the Best Solo Performer wins N1million.
According to Kinjal Tanna, CEO of KKDD Films Dubai, the show producers, “we have appointed Underdog Productions as our Nigerian partner to execute this monumental show for ZEE World in their second outing. Having previously worked with the highly qualified Team at Underdog Productions and being impressed with their attention to detail, production values, and articulate production planning made them the correct choice to partner with on the show.”
The show enjoyed a phenomenal first season in Nigeria, and returns with higher stakes, greater intensity, and increased entertainment in the new season.
Speaking on the new season, Mr. Somnath Malakar, Zee Africa CEO for Sub-Saharan Africa and Indian Ocean Islands, said: “India and Nigeria have enjoyed a tremendous relationship for several decades through trade and culture. Indian movies and music have been incredibly popular here for years and Nigerian music and dance steps have become a global joy. Fusing both dance cultures in the contest will birth great content for reality TV lovers across both great nations and the world.”
CEO of Underdog Productions, producers of the show, Mr. Lanre Adisa, added, “it is more than a dance contest. It is a captivating and emotional journey of the talented dancers participating in the contest and the obstacles they have to overcome in each episode to have a shot at winning. The audience is going to be more thrilled than they ever imagined.”
On what to expect in season two of the show, Series Producer and Director of Dance Naija Dance, Sunkanmi Adebayo, stated, “this is the first time Nigeria and India, two international entertainment giants, are coming together to make a show. Each episode will be a trip to the best of both nations, and the colours, costumes, customs and culture of both great nations will be explored through dance, creating a magical hybrid such as we have never seen on TV.”
The line producer of the show, Anthonia Adeniyi, also adds, “striving to build a team of professionals, who are not only experienced, but passionate about their craft is a value that is being brought to season two.”
It is produced by Underdog Productions and KKDD film and will be broadcast on Zee World channel on Dstv channel 166 and Gotv channel 30 and also across 52 countries of Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.
The show has both Indian and Nigerian dance instructors to mentor the participants and judges to review their performances.
