Apapa Customs records N20.1b daily revenue under new leadership

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a daily revenue collection of N20.1 billion, marking the highest single-day collection by any command under the Unified Customs Management System (B’Odogwu).

The record was achieved just 24 hours after the newly deployed Comptroller, Emmanuel Oshoba, assumed leadership of the command.

The previous daily record of N18 billion, achieved under the former leadership, has now been surpassed, according to a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Tunde Ayagbalo.

He attributed the achievement to the dedication, hard work, and uncompromising disposition to duty of the command’s officers.

Comptroller Oshoba, speaking on the new record, said the milestone represents only the beginning of further accomplishments at the Apapa Command.

“It’s only the beginning of greater exploits and it’s not time for celebration because I foresee greater achievements for the flagship command of NCS under my leadership,” he said.

He described B’Odogwu as a key instrument in the modernization and efficiency of customs operations in Nigeria, emphasizing its potential to strengthen the country’s position as Africa’s largest economy while facilitating trade.

Oshoba commended his team and stakeholders for their contributions, noting that while the collection is a significant milestone, work must continue.

“I commend my team and stakeholders for this great milestone of N20.1 billion collection in one day, just 24 hours after I resumed here. It’s not the time to clap yet because clapping means removing your two hands from work to celebrate,” he said, urging officers to sustain focus on results and anti-smuggling efforts.

The record-setting achievement highlights the Apapa Command’s capacity to drive revenue generation and supports broader efforts to enhance trade facilitation and compliance in Nigeria’s ports.
