Customs resolves glitches, onboards SON on B’Odogwu

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it has resolved the technical glitches associated with the onboarding process of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) onto the new B’Odogwu platform.

The NSC, in a statement made available by its National Public Relations Officer and Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Dr Abdullahi Maiwada, said the disruption, which began on July 23, 2025, stemmed from system integration challenges encountered during the linking of SON’s operations to the platform.

He said the technical hiccups temporarily hindered the seamless transmission of Product Certificates for Form M and SONCAP, both critical components for pre-arrival assessment report (PAAR) processing.

Maiwada noted that this also impacted importers, licensed customs agents and traders’ ability to accurately capture their Form M, Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR), and Single Goods Declaration (SGD) documents.

He listed specific challenges encountered, including truncated trader names due to limited input space, incorrect data formatting, missing 10-digit product codes, ambiguous error prompts, and difficulties in linking the Tax Identification Number (TIN) to traders’ profiles.

Maiwada stated that while the NCS promptly resolves the issues within its system, further coordination was required to complete the resolution on SON’s end.

He confirmed the restoration of the full system functionality as of August 6, 2025, noting that both agencies have successfully resolved the transmission issues.

Maiwada stated that the Product Certificates and SONCAP documents are now being transmitted seamlessly, and the backlog of affected transactions is being cleared.

Maiwada said the NCS remains committed to transparency, collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

He noted that regular training sessions for stakeholders are ongoing across various commands to build user capacity and also serve as a channel for surfacing and resolving operational challenges on the platform.
