Military operations weakening IPOB in Southeast, says group

The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has commended the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, for his leadership in tackling insecurity across the country.
The organisation particularly noted that recent military operations across the country have led to a decline in the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the Southeast and oil theft in the Niger Delta.
MOSIEND’s National President, Amb. Kennedy Tonjo West gave the commendation during a leadership session for the executives of the Abuja and Northern chapters of the organization in the Federal Capital Territory.
West said Musa’s leadership has significantly enhanced military operations, particularly in counterinsurgency efforts and the fight against organized crime.
“Under General Musa’s command, the Nigerian Armed Forces have recorded notable achievements in the battle against Boko Haram and insurgency in the North. His innovative security strategies, such as the reinforcement of ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ and the deployment of ‘Super Camps,’ have played a crucial role in reclaiming lost territories from insurgents,” he stated.
West maintained that Musa’s commitment to redefining the armed forces is evident in his emphasis on modernization, capacity building, and the welfare of military personnel.
According to him, the CDS’s efforts to improve the morale and operational readiness of troops have been instrumental in enhancing the overall effectiveness of the military.
“Furthermore, General Musa’s leadership has led to a significant reduction in insecurity, including the activities of IPOB in the South East and oil theft in the Niger Delta,” he said.
“His collaborative approach has fostered greater cooperation amongst the security architecture, resulting in improved service delivery and a safer Nigeria.
“We applaud General Musa’s dedication to upholding human rights within military engagements and his commitment to international cooperation and collaboration.
“His leadership has not only brought hope to the people of Nigeria but has also earned the country a respected position among the comity of nations.”
