FAAN says 70% ISO policy achieved as Kuku assures of December certification

The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, said the agency has achieved about 70 per cent completion of the ISO policy certification process.

Kuku assured that FAAN would close the identified gaps by December 2025, as external auditors are set to arrive in the country in November to assess its full compliance and give it a clean bill of health.

A statement by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, FAAN, Henry Agbebire, yesterday, said that Kuku made the statement at the unveiling of the agency’s Integrated ISO Policy held in Lagos.

Kuku, who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Human Resources and Administration, FAAN, Dr Luqman Emiola, expressed that the ISO Policy reinforced the operational principle that if not documented, it is considered not done.

According to her, the policy provides FAAN with a working document to guide internal audits across directorates, ensuring that every action reflects its commitment to service quality, safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.

She further reiterated the agency’s dedication to managing Nigeria’s airports in line with international best practices, ensuring safe, secure, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations.

Kuku also reaffirmed FAAN’s commitment to protecting the environment, supporting host communities, and providing a conducive workplace for staff.

Also, in her opening remarks, the Director of Special Duties, Mrs Obiageli Orah, said that the ISO policy and audit process were designed to measure FAAN’s commitment to quality and the way it conducts its business, with strong emphasis on customer satisfaction and environmental responsibility.

Besides, Agbebire commended Kuku, the management of FAAN and the Directorate of Special Duties for driving the initiative. He reiterated the management’s commitment to embedding quality, safety, and sustainability across all operations, pledging continued support until full certification was achieved.

The new policy integrates two standards, ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS), into a single framework.

Through this system, FAAN seeks to institutionalise a culture of service quality, operational safety, and sustainable practice across all airports under its management.
