To ease local transportation in Nigeria, Mikano Motors has ordered about 500 buses from Changan Automobile, a leading Chinese automaker with a rich history of over 160 years.

Chairman of Mikano International, Mofid Karameh, disclosed this during a gala night to celebrate its collaboration with Changan Autos, which is solidifying its presence and growth in the Nigerian market.

He said the order was placed last month and that in the next five or four months, the buses will be on Nigeria roads.

Karameh said: “The order was in line with the direction of the President to change the local transportation in Nigeria. We fine-tune our deal with China; they are producing the best buses and we ordered about 500 buses last month for local transportation.”

He reiterated the commitment of the company to provide valuable products to the Nigerian marketplace, mentioning the partnership with Rolls Royce to improve power generation in Nigeria.

Changan’s Director of the African Region, Tracy Huang, said Changan would, in collaboration with Mikano, “continue to innovate and provide the best services in the ecosystem”.

Managing Director, Mikano Motors, Ralph Haidar, noted: “One of the most notable traits of Nigerians is their affinity for quality. We translate our understanding of the unique Nigerian tastes and preferences to providing quality products and services for you.”

Also, he announced the company’s aspiration to expand operations to other African countries like Ghana, Sierra Leone and Gabon.

Also, the Head of the Middle East and Africa business, Lucas Xiang, emphasised Changan’s dedication to innovation. He noted that the brand invests five per cent of its annual sales revenue in product research and development, driving trailblazing designs and performance.
