Police transfer DIG Jonathan to FCID Abuja from South-South

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate transfer of DIG Jonathan Towuru from his post in the Southsouth zone to the Force Criminal Investigative Department (FCID), Abuja.

The posting, which takes effect immediately, came barely two weeks after he was decorated as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police in the South-South command zone.

The posting was communicated to all police formations, commands, and units across the country in a wireless message format.
Towuru was appointed by the Police Service Commission on January 8 to his present rank of DIG.

The Police Service Commission spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement, said that Towuru succeeds DIG Daniel Pedro, who has retired.

“DIG Towuru brings a wealth of experience from his extensive career in the Nigeria Police Force.

“His previous assignments include serving as Assistant Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Enugu, in 2011; Deputy Force Secretary at Force Headquarters, Abuja, in 2012 and 2019; Deputy Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri, in 2014; Commissioner of Police, Western Port, Apapa, Lagos, in 2022; and AIG, Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar, Cross River State,” the statement said.

Towuru, before his appointment as DIG, was Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 6, Calabar, in Cross River State.
