Dua Lipa Features As A Mermaid In Barbie Teaser

It has been revealed that Dua Lipa is a part of the cast in over 20 new posters promoting the cast of the upcoming Barbie film.

In an Instagram post, the pop icon revealed her part in the movie. She is shown in the shared image as a mermaid version of Barbie, which is one of the recently published sets of official posters.

With a dazzling blue bracelet and matching skirt, the ‘Levitating’ hitmaker demonstrated her amazing body while channelling as a mermaid.

A beaded necklace, hoop earrings, and blue eye makeup served as her finishing touches for this stunning ensemble.

To complete the image, Dua wore a vivid blue wig that flowed in glossy waves across her shoulders.

“This Barbie is a mermaid!!” She wrote as the caption. The official Barbie Instagram page also responded to the update, adding: “It’s gonna be a splash”.

The Greta Gerwig-directed movie, which is scheduled for release on July 21st, has been eagerly anticipated by viewers. Although this has not yet been confirmed, Lipa is rumoured to have recorded a number of new songs for the soundtrack in addition to appearing in the film itself.

While many enthusiastic fans welcomed the announcement, others expressed displeasure that Barbie Girl by Aqua, which reached number one on the charts in 1997, wasn’t being used. Still more demanded that Britney Spears perform the song.

Dua’s transition into acting comes after her single, One Kiss, topped charts all over the world in 2018, making her a household name.

A year later, she won the Grammy Awards for best new artist and best dance recording in addition to the Brit Award for Song of the Year.

It was made public last year that she had quit her management firm, TaP Music, and was now being handled by her father, Dukagjin.

Dua will not only play the lead in the Barbie movie, but she will also play an unnamed character in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming spy thriller ‘Argylle’.

A teaser trailer for the next Barbie movie, which wrapped up filming in July of last year, was published in December.
