New invitee to the Super Eagles team to the 2022 Cameroon Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON), Kelechi Nwakali, has said that the country is going for the title in the competition, which began yesterday at the Olembe Stadium, Yaoundé, Cameroon.

Speaking yesterday, Nwakali who expressed delight at being part of the team despite not playing during the qualifiers, said that the Eagles need a winning mindset to achieve victory in every game at the AFCON.

The former Golden Eaglets captain, which won the U-17 World Cup in Chile, in 2015, stated that Coach Augustine Eguavoen style of play, which is compact in nature, would allow every player in the team to be active on the field of play.

“I am delighted that I made the 2022 AFCON final 28-man list. Working with Coach Eguavoen in the past weeks has given me enough confidence.

“The coach believes in compact football, which the players are getting used to. Super Eagles have lots of emerging stars that will use the AFCON to launch themselves to the World.

“I believe my special talent of giving long passes will assist the Eagles at the AFCON any time I am included in any game,” he said.

The SD Huesca FC of Spain midfielder, added, “Nigerians want the Eagles to win every game and Eagles mindset is to win the title. But you cannot predict the outcome of a football game all the time. The Eagles need to play as a team to excel at 2022 AFCON”.
