The Association of Nigerian Universities Alumni (ANUA), the umbrella body representing all alumni associations of Nigerian universities, will host its bi-annual conference from October 2 to 5, 2025, at Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi State.
Themed “Bridging the Gap: Alumni-Driven Solutions for Sustainable University Funding,” the conference will bring together about 150 alumni association presidents from across Nigeria to foster strategic partnerships, share innovative insights, and tackle critical challenges confronting the nation’s higher education system.
In a statement, ANUA’s National Public Relations Officer, Mallam Suhailun Maccido, confirmed that Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State will serve as Chief Host and formally declare the conference open.
National Chairman of ANUA, Professor Yakubu Ochefu, will host the gathering and facilitate a plenary session on “Rethinking the Nigerian University System: The View from the Alumni.”
The four-day event will also feature a keynote address by Professor Saminu Ibrahim, former Vice-Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, as well as a specialized session on “University Business Eco-Systems” to be led by Architect Chris Uloko, a member of ANUA’s Board of Trustees.
According to the statement, the conference will focus on two main objectives: exploring innovative financing models and alumni-driven initiatives to address funding challenges in Nigerian universities, and leveraging alumni expertise to improve academic quality, infrastructure, and graduate outcomes.
Established to strengthen ties between universities and their graduates, ANUA plays a key role in mobilizing resources, advancing higher education development, and fostering professional networks that contribute to national development.
The association continues to champion collaborative initiatives that position alumni as key partners in building a stronger and more sustainable university system.
