The Lagos State University (LASU) has released the approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session, outlining key academic activities, semester durations, and breaks for both new and returning students.
The approval was granted by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, on behalf of the institution’s Senate, following the recommendation of the Committee of Provost, Deans and Directors (COPDD) at its meeting on September 11, 2025.
The university confirmed the details through its official X account on Sunday.
According to the calendar, the first semester will begin with registration for new students from September 15 to October 3, 2025, while returning students are expected to resume from October 6. Lectures for both categories of students will continue until December 19, 2025, before the end-of-year break scheduled from December 22, 2025, to January 2, 2026.
Revision and late registration, with a penalty fee of ₦5,000, are fixed for January 5–9, 2026, followed by four weeks of examinations running from January 12 to February 6, 2026. Grading, processing of results, and Senate approval will take place between February 9 and 27, 2026.
The second semester is scheduled to run from March 2 to May 22, 2026, with 12 weeks of lectures for new and returning students. Examinations will hold from May 25 to June 5, followed by two weeks of grading and a Senate meeting for the final approval of results on July 3, 2026. The session will officially end on July 6, 2026.
The institution announced that the first semester will span 24 weeks for new students and 21 weeks for returning students, while the second semester will last 20 weeks. A three-month break will follow the end of the session, after which the 2026/2027 academic year is set to begin on October 6, 2026.

• Monday, 6th October – Friday, 19th December 2025: Resumption and registration for returning students, alongside the commencement of lectures for both new and returning students (11 weeks).
• Monday, 22nd December 2025 – Friday, 2nd January 2026: End-of-year break (2 weeks).
• Monday, 5th January – Friday, 9th January 2026: Revision and late registration (with a penalty fee of ₦5,000) (1 week).
• Monday, 12th January – Friday, 6th February 2026: Examinations (4 weeks).
• Monday, 9th February – Friday, 20th February 2026: Grading and uploading of results (2 weeks).
• Monday, 23rd February – Friday, 27th February 2026: Departmental and Faculty consideration, uploading of corrections, ICT processing of results, collation, and Senate meeting for the approval of results (1 week).
The calendar shows that new students will spend a total of 24 weeks in the first semester while returning students will spend a total of 21 weeks.
SECOND SEMESTER
• Monday, 2nd March – Friday, 22nd May 2026: Resumption, registration and lectures for new and returning students (12 weeks).
• Monday, 25th May – Friday, 5th June 2026: Examinations (4 weeks).
• Monday, 8th June – Friday, 19th June 2026: Grading and uploading of results (2 weeks).
• Monday, 22nd June – Friday, 26th June 2026: Departmental and Faculty consideration, uploading of corrections and ICT processing of results (1 week).
• Monday, 29th June – Friday, 3rd July 2026: Collation of results and Senate meeting for consideration and approval of results (1 week).
• Monday, 6th July 2026: End-of-session break commences.
The calendar shows that the second semester shall be for a duration of 20 weeks.
• Sessional Break: Monday, 6th July – Friday, 2nd October 2026 (3 months).
• New Session: The 2026/2027 Academic Calendar commences on Monday, 6th October 2026.
