The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) has said it will soon kick off the installation of 5,608 meters for customers in the state.
Kaduna Electric announced this in a statement, explaining that the meters are for customers on its Band A feeders under the first phase of the Meter Acquisition Fund (MAF) programme.
“The installation covers the metering gap on our Band A feeders and there are plans to replace all faulty and obsolete meters on the selected feeder, to ensure that customers continue enjoying our services efficiently,” the statement read.
According to the KAEDCO Head of Metering Projects, Abba Aliyu Maiborno, the MAF metering programme will go a long way to reduce challenges the company is currently battling with such as Aggregate Technical, Commercial, and Collection (ATC&C).
Maiborno added that Kaduna Electric’s metering team has finalised the Know Your Customer (KYC) exercise on feeders identified for the installation.
According to him, this would help KAEDCO
to gather vital information to ensure the success of the exercise.
He also urged customers of Kaduna Electric to cooperate with the teams by obliging them with the required data.
The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), introduced the Meter Acquisition Fund (MAF) to reduce the metering gap and improve electricity service delivery across the country.
The initiative, overseen by NERC, pools contributions from all Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) into a central fund to procure and deploy meters at no cost to customers.
The MAF initiative represents a significant step forward in addressing the nation’s metering challenges, promoting transparency, and delivering improved energy efficiency to customers.
