Esti: John Legend’s Wife Chrissy Teigen Reveals Inspiration Behind Name Of Daughter

Chrissy Teigen has revealed the inspiration behind the name Esti Maxine, given to her three-month-old daughter.

During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the model, 37, who has three children with husband John Legend, 44, she stated that the name was originally inspired by an Italian vacation but turned out to also have a family link.

“We had taken a holiday. I kept seeing the name Este of the hotel as I looked up at it while planning our Italian wedding, and I remember thinking, “I adore the word Este,” she recalled.

“I was just playing around with it and then we came up with Esti”. But, after settling on the name, the couple realized they had a deeper connection.

“John, after we named her Esti, learned that it was actually his great-grandmother’s name. I guess maybe it was Esther and then they turned it to Esti.”

While she discussed how she and Legend’s older children, daughter Luna Simone, 7, and son Miles Theodore, 4, had acclimated to having a new baby in the house, author Teigen also referred to their infant as “such a light and a joy” during her TV appearance.

John Legend told PEOPLE last month that Miles and Luna were adjusting to their new brother “very wonderfully.” The former Voice coach described it as “extremely thrilling.”

“I was just saying my kids are doing so well. My older kids are doing so well with her and (it) just fills the house up with more love.”

On January 13, Esti was born through C-section, and Legend announced the news at a private concert.
