Lagos private school proprietors preach unity, swear in new exco
The leadership of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has called for transparency, unity, and adherence to organisational rules by members to promote the sub-sector.
The association made the call at the election and inauguration of newly-elected executives of Lagos State chapter of the association.
In his address, a member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) representing Southwest, Safiriyu Idowu, reaffirmed the association’s position as the umbrella body for all registered private schools in Nigeria.
“We resolved to eliminate illegal factions and affirm that NAPPS is one, as unity is essential for our progress,” Idowu stated.
He addressed concerns regarding the restriction of bank accounts tied to illegal factions in Lagos and Ekiti States, and warned local chapters against using private accounts to manage association funds.
National President of NAPPS, Yomi Otubela, harped on their readiness to uphold the principles of the association, and advance the country’s educational system.
He said: “We cannot allow illegal practices to derail our mission. We must act decisively to sanitise our association and build strong bonds of unity.
NAPPS is committed to the growth of the sector, and ensure every child has access to quality learning,” he stated.
Otubela also urged members to ensure their schools are registered with the government to contribute to national educational goals.
“Education is the right of every child, and our members must align with government regulations to achieve this,” he added.
He concluded with renewed commitment to enhance private education in Nigeria, build stronger organisational structures, and quality education for every child.
The new chairman, Bodunde Samuel, pledged that his leadership would focus on transparency, accountability, and capacity building.
