Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, in collaboration with the International Conference of Community Psychology (ICCP), is set to showcase Nigeria’s role in advancing global psychological science.

During a courtesy visit to LASU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Dr Moshood Olanrewaju, a Professor at Aldler University in the United States, said the event, themed: ‘Gathering in the motherland: Celebrating ways of the waters and reconnecting to the source,’ is aimed at exploring the benefits of water in shaping human endeavours, even as he emphasised the central role of water in human existence.

“Water, the life-sustaining force, nurtures all forms of existence—mythical or real. Water flows through and shapes landscapes, animating hills, mountains, forests, and diverse life forms. Its transformative power lies in its ability to adapt and flow through various conditions,” Olanrewaju stated.

He noted that the conference would reflect on water’s profound impact with the aim of gathering, reconnecting, and re-evaluating where we stand as species and stewards of our planet.

The 2026 conference, he said, seeks to channel the strength of the collective flow back into the communities, fostering renewal, care, and growth just as water does.

He disclosed that the conference will host students, renowned experts, esteemed international psychology professors, and other allied professionals.

Olatunji-Bello, in her remarks, assured of seamless hospitality to foster an inclusive and enriching experience for all attendees.

The VC pledged to involve all stakeholders, including the Lagos State government, police, immigration services, and traditional institutions, among others.
