Trinity varsity inducts nursing graduates, presents provisional licence

Trinity University Yaba, Lagos, has inducted its first set of Nursing Science graduates into the nursing profession.

Speaking at the induction and presentation of provisional licence to the inductees, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Clement Kolawole, charged them to approach the profession with compassion, and be ready to make an impact in the society.

Stressing the critical role nurses play in the nation’s healthcare system, the VC said nursing is not just a profession, but a calling that requires compassion, empathy, and a commitment to caring for others.

“You have the power to make a difference in the lives of your patients, families, and communities you serve. As you go forth, therefore, I charge you to make an impact in the world through passion and a commitment to excellence. Strive to be the best version of yourselves, and always remember that excellence is not a destination, but a continuous journey,” Kolawole stated.

He also thanked the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria for its support and guidance throughout their students academic journey, noting that their commitment to upholding the highest standards of nursing education and practice is commendable.

Dean, Faculty of Nursing, University of Ibadan (UI), Prof. Prisca Adejumo, in her lecture on: “Transitioning from student to professional nurse: Expectations and responsibilities towards empowering your journey into professional nursing,” spoke on bridging the gap between theory and practical, while learning.

Adejumo said the journey they are embarking on is pivotal to their career, pointing out that it is a transition that calls for accountability, adaptability and resilience.

Acting Dean, Faculty of Nursing Science at Trinity University, Olaide Animashaun, advised the inductees to be good ambassadors of the institution and uphold its values, while striving for excellence in the profession.

The best graduating student and best in mental health, Grace Suuru, in her valedictory speech, charged her fellow inductees to remember the lessons they have learnt, the friendships forged, and their dreams.
