Encomium galore as Segun Aina marks 70
Family members, Friends, colleagues and mentee of Dr. Segun Aina poured encomium on him when he marked his 70th birthday recently.
The birthday event which brought together political, religious, and cultural leaders, was an opportunity many to celebrate and highlight the vast and diverse influence Aina has had on many who have crossed his path.
His career of over three decades includes serving as the chief executive of a bank for six years.
Aina, as a visionary leader, established Fintech Associates Limited in 2002, laying the foundation for innovation and growth in the sector.
His leadership extended beyond the country, as he founded the Africa Fintech Network, serving as its inaugural president.
His impact also reached the corporate investment sector, serving as Chairman of Odu’a Investment Company Limited from 2020 to 2022 further solidifying his legacy.
Aina’s dedication extends beyond professional achievements. As a proud son of Osun State, he has championed numerous developmental initiatives, from serving as Chairman of the board of UNDP-Osun State Sustainable Development Programme from 2003 to 2010 to his membership of Osun State COVID-19 Relief Committee, including leading the Osun Development Association as Chairman from 2017 to date, among many other contributions to Osun State.
His Presidency of the Otan Ayegbaju Progressive Union from 2003 to 2007 catalysed significant socio-economic advancements in his hometown. During that period, he initiated the Boluwaduro Development Union, an umbrella development organisation of the five communities in Boluwaduro Local Council.
He was the banking industry representative at the 2014 Nigeria National Confab and led 15 professional bodies at the 2024 Confab.
During his birthday celebration, two books, Redefining Innovation and Entrepreneurship for 21st venture and Financial Technology and Digital Banking were also launched.
