
The renowned Financial Controller of SKLD Integrated Services Limited, Elijah Oyeyinka has been named winner of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Merit Award. The honour was bestowed upon Mr Oyeyinka on April 30, 2022, during ICAN’s highly anticipated Annual Dinner and Awards, held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos.
Mr. Oyeyinka, who received the award for his role in steering SKLD’s financial reporting processes to meet international standards, was described as an humble achiever whose innovative leadership in redefining financial governance at SKLD has positioned it as a model for financial transparency in Nigeria’s business sector.
The Annual ICAN Awards highlight individuals who demonstrate exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s financial and business communities. This year, the event saw about 500 nominations across various sectors, with Mr. Oyeyinka emerging as a standout for his innovative approach to financial reporting and governance.
Beyond individual recognitions, the event spotlighted non-members of ICAN who were trailblazers in sectors like technology, and the public agencies. Among other recipients were Muhammad Nami, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and companies such as Omnibiz and MTN, celebrated for their strides in innovation and sustainability.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Oyeyinka reflected on the collective efforts behind his achievements, stating, “This award is a reflection of the hard work and commitment of my colleagues at SKLD. Together, we have set new standards in financial reporting, and it’s an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious institution like ICAN.”
The ICAN Merit Award, considered one of the most prestigious honours in Nigeria’s financial industry, is sponsored by top financial institutions such as PwC Nigeria, Access Bank, and Deloitte. It recognizes professionals who demonstrate excellence, innovation, and leadership in their respective fields.
