Doctor exposes health challenges Nigerians abroad face
Dr Richard Okoye, popularly known as Dr Savealife, has revealed the hidden health challenges faced by many Nigerians living abroad, particularly due to the long waiting times for medical appointments and treatments.
In a YouTube video, Dr Okoye shed light on the dangerous delays that often plague those seeking medical care in foreign countries, highlighting the impact on conditions like fibroids and infertility.
Speaking passionately, Dr Okoye emphasised that women suffering from fibroids—an ailment particularly prevalent among African women—often endure prolonged waits for treatment abroad, which can exacerbate their condition.

He advised that Nigerian hospitals, with their specialised knowledge and experience in treating fibroids, may be better suited to address this issue effectively compared to facilities in Western countries.
Drawing on his extensive experience as a healthcare advocate, Dr Okoye encouraged Nigerians, including those abroad, to consider seeking timely medical intervention back home, especially for conditions such as fibroids and infertility. According to him, the delays in countries with strained healthcare systems could lead to worsened health outcomes, which are avoidable with proper care in Nigeria.
