FCTA provides medical screening, treatment, minor surgeries for residents

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has offered free medical screening, treatment, and other healthcare services to over 3000 residents of Buwari Area Council in the FCT under the Renewed Hope Medical Mission of the federal government.

The administration also distributed fertilizers, gas cookers, sanitary wares, and antenatal kits to pregnant women.

Speaking at the medical outreach organized by the FCT Mandate Secretary of Health Services and Environmental Secretaries, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, Minister of State for FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmud explained that medical services being provided to the residents include eye screening and free glasses are also part of the package, screening for sickle cell, diabetes and minor surgeries among others.

Mahmud stated that the provision of free medical services is to show that President Bola Tinubu is concerned about his people to his heart.

She noted that Nigeria is one of the African countries with a high number of maternal and child mortality and morbidity adding that most of these deaths are preventable.

Also speaking, the FCT Mandate Secretary of Health Services and Environmental Secretaries, Dr Adedolapo Fasawe, said that the government of President Bola Tinubu is committed to improving the country’s health indices adding that it is unacceptable for a pregnant woman to die because of complications or for a child to die at birth.

She noted that health care was essential to life, adding that the FCT Minister is working to ensure inclusive development and well-being of the residents of the FCT.

“We are thinking of the human development index, the social determinant of health, and the physical determinant of health and saying health is not just the absence of disease, it is your total well-being and this government is leaving no one behind. We don’t care about your party or religious affiliation.”
