Kosoko, others educate YABAtech students on content creation

Veteran actor, Jide Kosoko; his daughter, Temi; and skit maker, Kemi Ikusedun, have stressed the need for students to know how to use mobile phones to make contents for social change.

The trio, who visited YABATECH for a two-day workshop, took the students on importance of digital skills to reduce unemployment rate and drive progress in the country.

The workshop, with the theme: ‘Content creation as a tool for social change,’ and packaged by Adebisi Peters, a cinematographer and mass communication students of the college, was hosted by ‘Shoot your shot Africa.’

Kosoko, who participated virtually, advised the over 200 students to be digitally equipped with knowledge of creation to reduce unemployment.

Temi, on her part, enjoined the students to be consistent in content creation to overcome challenges.

She said she outgrew her father’s shadow and made a name for herself with consistent efforts.

She advised young people to be self-confident and knowledgeable about what their target audiences’ want, saying this is the only way to achieve great communication and content creation.

“If you know what you’re doing and how to package it properly, you’ll go a long way,” she said.

Ikusedun enjoined young people to be versatile in their content rather than focus on a single idea.

According to the lady, it is important for youths to diversify and explore dynamism in their creative pursuits.

“If you want to be a content creator, you cannot keep doing what is working for you; you have to try new things. You can start from scratch and rise to prominence by simply using your phone to post on social media,” she said.

Peters, who pioneered shoot your shot Africa, said: “It is time we revolutionised the use of new broadcast systems, online communication and new media, which is why we organised this workshop in collaboration with the department of mass communication to educate students.
