Women tasked on wellness to curb depression

Experts have emphasised the need for women to pay attention to their health and focus on mental wellness to curb depression. The advice was given at the Mom’s Time Out Fiesta, tagged ‘Digital Divas’ held in Lagos, in commemoration of International Women’s Day. The Convener, Mom’s Time Out Fiesta, Esther Morakinyo, emphasised the need for women to embark on exercises in their routines to remain energetic and younger.
“It doesn’t have to be rigorous; you can do walks or exercises a home. Instead of taking Uber to short distances, it’s better to walk,” she added. She encouraged women facing depression to take breaks which would help rejuvenate them as they are always multi-tasking, neglecting themselves and overly spending as they perform their duties.
“The mom in our name stands for Masters of Multitasking. Whether you are a young woman exploring life or a seasoned mother; you need a well-deserved break, because sometimes all you need is a pause and self-care. Women usually feel unseen and overwhelmed, so Mom’s time out is helping to change the narrative,” she said.
She noted that the event would also empower anyone who wants to begin a career in tech and any other business. She stated that women are now realising themselves and growing, Morakinyo encouraged them to keep chasing their dreams and expanding them.
Dance/Fitness Instructor, Mary Furo, emphasised the importance of fitness for women, saying that it can help to curb health challenges, improve one’s health and boost energy. She said that fitness is one of the major solutions to depression.
