Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has lauded the efforts of Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, for his commitment to urban renewal projects that have transformed the state within just nine months.

Umahi made the commendation during a working visit to Zamfara on Friday, where he inspected ongoing federal road projects.

He highlighted the Governor’s dedication, stating, “Your Excellency, we are here on the directives of the President to inspect ongoing road projects and convey his greetings to you.

“The President is committed to completing all ongoing projects, including the dualisation of federal roads, not only in Zamfara but across the country. I commend you on the positive impact of your consistent efforts in the urban renewal projects that have transformed Zamfara in just nine months.”

Governor Lawal expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s kind words, emphasising his administration’s focus on improving the state’s image.

“As a responsible government, we are working hard to change the negative narrative of Zamfara State. In the past, whenever you heard about Zamfara State, it was always negative, but now, we are trying to rescue and rebuild the state,” he said.

Lawal further commended President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructural development, pledging his government’s continued support for the President’s policies.

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing, accompanied the Minister on the visit that highlights the collaborative efforts between federal and state governments to improve infrastructure and living standards in Nigeria.
