International Women’s Day: Why Women are special – Ebony Mystique

Miesha Hilliard, well known as Ebony Mystique on the theme of #EmbracingEquity, finally spoke publicly about the second installment of their International Women’s Day series, celebrating the women who make up our strong and diverse community.

According to her, International Women’s Day is special.

” It is a dedicated day of celebration for feminism and femininity. It highlights women in power, who have shown leadership in their personal lives, communities, and workplaces. A bit bittersweet for me, as I think these characteristics should be acknowledged every calendar day of the year. But I am still grateful for at least one,” she said

Continuing, she added, “Body image, having a voice and opinion, and just being respected as equal to men are something women have historically fought for. As we progress over the years, those aspects are still important to women’s rights. Also, I believe more women are advancing toward the entrepreneurial lifestyle, showing that women are not only nurturers, but can run the show as well, just as successfully as their male counterparts.

The former nurse turned adult movie star lists a number of women who are a big source of inspiration to her. She mentioned Angela Davis, Assata Shakur, Maya Angelou, Iyanla Vanzant and Beyoncé.

“There are so many. It’s not idol worshipping, I can honestly say I “look up” to these women. I am really impressed with their dedication and talent, they’re so impressionable to so many, and have such a positive influence and gift, especially for women,” stated.

” I was a nurse in many fields for over a decade. The gratitude of helping someone maintains life in the healthiest ways possible was extremely rewarding. My female patients from all ages and walks of life taught me something different each time. Women are strong! There is something incredibly special about being a woman. Only those who tap into the feminine energy would really understand. The lives a woman assists in carrying and bringing into this world, that in itself is special,” she said

Ebony Mystique also has a piece of advice for women, especially those in their 20s, starting out on their lives’ journey, irrespective of the industry they find themselves.

“Know who you are and what you want to be known for in this world. Women are created in beautification. Born pre-approved. We do not need approval. Embrace the person you are. Love and believe in yourself so hard that you can’t think of anything else but being the most powerful and respected woman you can be in your life. Remember who you are. You are special. Someone’s daughter, sister, aunt, mother. The first teacher for some. Such an amazing purpose to have” she advised.
