The executive council of the Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA), led by its President, Sulyman Bello, has engaged in a pivotal meeting with the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, at Alausa, Lagos State.

The meeting aimed at addressing transportation challenges affecting the Lekki Peninsula. During the conversation, LERSA outlined critical areas for improvement in traffic management and enforcement to mitigate traffic offences and enhance overall transportation efficiency.

Chairman of the LERSA Transportation Committee, Femi Oke, emphasized the need for a specialised enforcement team in construction zones, peak time management squads and the deployment of monster trucks for towing obstructive vehicles, especially in strategic areas like the Lekki Port and Refinery.

Also, he advocated zonal patrol units, an increase in transportation personnel and the exploration of alternative transportation methods such as rail and water transport.

A notable suggestion was the installation of truck barriers on the Jubilee Bridge and the use of technology, such as cameras, to monitor and penalise traffic violators.

Responding, Osiyemi provided insightful feedback on each issue, detailing the state’s efforts to address them. His commitment to actionable solutions highlighted the government’s dedication to making Lagos a model state for others.

The meeting concluded with remarks from LERSA’s Communications Chairman, Yomi Benson, who expressed gratitude to the Commissioner and his team for their continuous efforts and highlighted the importance of sustaining the dialogue between LERSA and the Lagos State Government.
