Waxing has been proven to be a very effective method of hair removal.

Although sometimes painful, waxing hairs allows for a much smoother shave and leaves a clean patch of skin that lasts longer.

It is also a pocket-friendly method of hair removal and can be done even from home.

Are you thinking of getting a wax? Here are some of the best five waxes for hair removal:

  • Soft Warm Wax

This form of wax is cream or resin-based and is typically used for strip waxing. You need to gently warm up the wax and apply it in a thin layer on your skin before pressing on a cloth strip. Soft, warm wax is also very efficient at removing fine hairs, and due to its sticky texture, you should only apply it once per area.

Typically, soft, warm wax is used on larger areas like the legs and arms, and they’re also very gentle on the skin.

  • Warm Hard wax

Best suited for skin areas with thicker and more delicate hair, warm hard wax hardens as it cools. Also known as strip-free wax, this wax is applied in much thicker layers also in the direction of hair growth.

Also, you should apply a pre-epilation oil to your skin after it’s cleaned to protect it from the wax. Once spread, it hardens to a flexible material that you can use the lip to pull off.

While warm hard wax is an excellent choice for anyone with sensitive skin, this wax might not pull off every strand of hair from its root, and you might need to go over the area multiple times.

  • Pre-Made Wax Strips

A great choice for at-home waxes, pre-made max stripes are designed with the right amount of cold soft wax attached and require no heating before use. A mess-free option, everyone, including beginners, can enjoy using these pre-made wax strips.

Depending on the quantity of hair being removed, you can use a wax strip more than once per area.

To slightly heat it, all you have to do is rub them between your palms to allow them to stick to more hair.

This is an excellent option for travelling and removes the risks of any burn incurred from using warm wax.

  • Sugar Wax

Sugar wax is a more natural wax, one of the oldest waxing methods. Made with sugar, lemon and hot water, this sugar wax is just as effective as other forms of waxes.

Sugar wax is a gentle wax ideal for sensitive and reactive skin; sugar wax is similar to hard wax, as it grabs the hairs without sticking to the skin. It could be used as a sticky ball applied using the fingers or as a soft wax applied with strips.

Cleaning up after using this wax is also made easier due to its water-soluble content. This reduces the risks of ingrown hairs as fewer products block hair follicles and hair regrowth.

  • Cold Soft wax

Taken right out of the pot and applied directly on the skin, cold soft wax reduces the risk of burns. Sticking on firmly to the skin, using an even thin layer could be tricky.

However, it might not be as effective as warm wax, and some hairs might be left behind, so we advise softening the formula by heating it slightly before spreading.

Before getting waxed, remember that your hair needs to be long enough, at least 1/4 and applying some powder before your wax helps hair stick on even better.
