1.⁠ ⁠Rinse the stain with cold water– fast!

Act fast! The sooner you tackle the stain, the easier it will be to remove. So, don’t let the blood stain sit and dry. Immediately, run the stained area under cold water. Hot water can set the stain, making it harder to remove so don’t opt for hot water at this moment. Keep rinsing until the water runs clear.

2.⁠ ⁠Use a salt scrub

Sprinkle a generous amount of salt directly onto the blood stain. Gently rub the salt into the fabric with your fingers. The salt will absorb the blood and help lift it from the fibres.

For stubborn stains, mix a solution of equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water. Apply the solution to the stain and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then, rinse the area thoroughly with cold water. Additionally, test the solution in an inconspicuous area first, as hydrogen peroxide can bleach some fabrics. You can get hydrogen peroxide in big chemical stores in Nigeria.

5.⁠ ⁠Soak with white vinegar

for this hack, soak the stained item in a solution of one-part white vinegar to two parts water for about 30 minutes. This acidic solution helps break down the blood proteins. After soaking, rinse the garment thoroughly with cold water and dry. Be sure not to sun your clothes with too much direct sunlight as it can fade them.

Pre-treat the stain with a laundry detergent that contains enzymes. These enzymes are specifically designed to break down protein-based stains like blood. Rub the detergent into the stain and let it sit for about 30 minutes before washing the garment as usual.

For tough stains, make a paste of baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit overnight. In the morning, scrape off the paste, wash the garment as usual and allow it to dry.
