“Breakfast Chat With 2baba” Celebrates Music And Philanthropy Milestones
An event called “Breakfast Chat with 2baba” was held at Eko Hotel in Lagos on Monday, 19th June 2023, to honour the renowned Nigerian musician, 2Baba. The gathering brought together fans, celebrities, and iconic figures to celebrate the achievements of the artist.
2Baba, also known as 2face Idibia, gained recognition for his groundbreaking contributions to the music industry. He first rose to fame as the frontman of Plantashun Boiz in 1999. In 2004, his solo debut album “Face 2 Face” further solidified his status as a star and established him as a leader in Nigeria’s emerging music scene.
Throughout his career, 2Baba has released several classic albums, achieved record-breaking sales, and garnered numerous local and international awards. However, his commitment to philanthropy has been equally noteworthy. From 2009 to 2023, he has dedicated himself to impactful endeavours that have made a lasting impact on society.
The Breakfast Chat event served as a tribute to 2Baba’s illustrious career, highlighting his significant milestones. It also shed light on the influential “Vote Not Fight” campaign, which advocates for peaceful elections, and emphasized the important chapters in his ongoing selfless service to God, country, and humanity. NDI, represented by Senior Resident Director Kelley Jones, commended 2Baba for his substantial contributions to social impact.
During the event, 2Baba engaged in a one-on-one conversation with global thought leader and futurist Olakunle Soriyan. He shared insights into his journey, his philanthropic work, and his vision for the future, stating, “Over the last fifteen years, I, both as an individual and through The 2Baba Foundation, have dedicated a significant amount of time, effort, and resources to support various causes that promote the well-being of our country and the welfare of our people.”
2Baba went on to highlight the diverse range of initiatives he has been involved in, including the Guinea-worm Eradication Program, NAFDAC’s campaign against fake or substandard food and drug products, the Net Nation anti-malaria campaign, C.E.C.P’s Cancer Awareness and Fundraising efforts, disaster relief work with the Red Cross of Nigeria, IDP intervention efforts with UNHCR, and multiple One Voice Nigeria projects with Enough is Enough, Nigeria.
The attendees of the event were inspired by 2Baba’s passion, resilience, and unwavering commitment to making a positive difference. Prominent guests included Bem Aga, Senior Program Officer of the National Democratic Institute (NDI); MI Abaga, award-winning rapper, music executive, and humanitarian; Michael Ugochukwu Stephens (Ruggedman), Chairman of Media (PMAN); Kunle Lasisi, Lagos State Branch Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross; and Larry Gaga, Vice President, Africa, Def Jam.
