During a call to “The Beat With Ari Melber,” the iconic singer shared her heartfelt memories of Turner, who passed away at the age of 83 after a prolonged illness, as confirmed by her family.
Cher expressed admiration for Turner’s strength in battling her sickness for an extended period. However, she also recalled a conversation where Turner confided in her, saying, “I’m truly ready. I just don’t want to endure this any longer.”
While Cher didn’t disclose the specifics of Turner’s ailment, she did mention observing a dialysis machine at Turner’s home during her visits. Dialysis is commonly used as a treatment for individuals in advanced stages of kidney disease.
According to Cher, Turner found immense joy in the company of her friends during their visits. Cher felt compelled to spend time with Turner, ensuring that their friendship remained strong and that Turner felt remembered and cherished. These visits brought happiness to Turner’s life.
Cher and Turner’s bond was so strong that their laughter became a highlight of their time together. Cher recollected someone commenting on their infectious laughter, describing it as the most delightful sound one could ever experience due to their distinctive laughs.
Cher revealed that she had known Turner since the time when Turner was married to Ike Turner, highlighting the longevity of their friendship.
During Cher’s last visit to Turner’s home in Switzerland, she received a special gift. Cher nostalgically shared, “The last time I saw her, she gave me a pair of shoes. And what kind of shoes were they? Tina Turner shoes!”
