Chidimma Adetshina’s journey to Miss Universe stage is nothing short of legendary. From discrimination to global stage, Chidimma shines through xenophobic attacks and surmount boundaries and identity stereotype.

Born to Nigerian parents and raised in South Africa, Chidimma’s identity became a heated topic for South Africans. Critics questioned her “South Africanness,” and xenophobic trolls erupted online, dragging her through a storm of hate. Despite her grace and poise, the backlash led to her shocking disqualification from South African pageantry.

That was not all, her passport as a citizen of the country was seized from her but that didn’t stop the queen from thriving.

She wasn’t about to let prejudice dim her light. After being called upon by Miss Nigeria pageantry organisers, she returned to Nigeria with a heart full of determination and a story worth telling.

Stepping into Nigeria’s pageantry world, she carried her scars like a queen—proof of her resilience. In no time, she won the Miss Nigeria crown, leaving judges and fans in awe of her beauty, intelligence, and unshakable spirit.

The road to Miss Universe wasn’t without bumps. Online xenophobia followed her, with some South Africans still questioning her success. But instead of responding to hate, Chidimma channelled her energy into celebrating her heritage.

When she stepped onto the 73rd Miss Universe stage, she wore an electrifying cultural attire that told the story of her identity—a stunning ensemble of bold patterns, a radiant crown adorned with afro combs, and beads that paid homage to her Yoruba roots.

Her presence lit up the room, silencing critics and winning hearts worldwide. Chidimma reminded everyone that beauty transcends borders and that no one can strip you of your identity.

And in a twist no one saw coming, Miss South Africa, Mia Le Roux, got disqualified from Miss Universe because of her health conditions.
