Afrobeats stars Davido and Wande Coal have traded words on social media after a disagreement over an unreleased version of Wande Coal’s hit song Come My Way turned personal.

The dispute started after Davido spoke about the collaboration during an appearance on the Uncut podcast. Davido said Wande Coal approached him to feature on the song and that he recorded a verse he believed was particularly good.

According to Davido, the collaboration later hit a snag over how the song would be released. He claimed Wande Coal decided to release the original version of Come My Way first and keep Davido’s verse for a possible remix.
Davido said he was not interested in that arrangement and did not want his contribution added to the song after the original version had already been released.

His comments did not go down well with Wande Coal, who took to X to challenge Davido’s version of events.
Wande Coal questioned why Davido expected to have a say in the release plan of a song that belonged to him, adding that the track had performed well without Davido’s verse.

“Carry song come give you as how? Song wey been get release plan and date!!!” Wande Coal wrote. He also stressed that Come My Way had done well without the collaboration.

The exchange soon moved beyond the disagreement over the song. Davido replied with a jab at Wande Coal’s stature, writing, “No vex Mr Little.” Wande Coal fired back with an insult of his own, as fans of both artistes quickly joined the conversation.

Davido later returned to the issue, accusing Wande Coal of “acting like a baby.” He also shared a screenshot of what he presented as a WhatsApp conversation dated July 22. In the screenshot, a mutual contact appeared to ask Davido for permission to give his phone number to Wande Coal, saying the singer wanted to reach him.

Davido appeared to share the exchange to support his claim that Wande Coal had recently sought contact with him. However, the screenshot does not settle the disagreement over what happened with the original collaboration.

The back-and-forth has drawn attention to the long-shelved version of Come My Way and raised fresh questions about what happened between the two artistes.

As of the time of reporting, neither Davido nor Wande Coal had backed down, with both singers maintaining their different versions of how the failed collaboration unfolded.
