Nollywood producer and actress, Funke Akindele, has expressed profound gratitude to her fans following the record-breaking performance of her latest movie, “Behind The Scenes”. The film has achieved historic milestones across international platforms, including Canada, the United States, Ghana, and Nigeria.
According to the filmmaker, via a social media post, the movie has enjoyed an exceptional reception in the North American Market.
Within just three days of its opening weekend, the movie grossed over $111,256 in Canada, establishing it as the highest-grossing Nollywood release in Canadian cinema history.
She wrote, “I’m honestly overwhelmed with gratitude, and I don’t take any of this for granted.

Back at home, “Behind the Scenes officially broke and shattered records, hitting over ₦2 billion at the box office and becoming the first Nollywood film in Africa to cross the ₦2 billion mark.
The film is now the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time across Africa, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
This achievement makes Akindele the first filmmaker to rank number one at the box office in Africa for three consecutive years.
The movie distributor, FilmOne, has described Akindele as West Africa’s highest-grossing filmmaker, writer, director, and producer of all time, and has credited the film’s success to sustained audience support and belief in local storytelling.
Akindele already holds several box office records. Her film Everybody Loves Jenifa previously stood as the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time, earning ₦1.88 billion.
She also dominates the list of Nigeria’s top-grossing films with titles such as Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, and A Tribe Called Judah.
