Santa came to town this Christmas.

For a year which was so-so for many Nigerians, music artistes decided to lift our spirits by giving us at least three memorable concerts week after week. For us, this has been a good kind-of-crazy.

In the midst of all these, we have chosen our top five drama-filled concerts that generated a lot of buzz this Christmas holiday.

30BillionConcert

Davido is officially our baby boy of the week and deservedly so. His stellar performance, support for the streets by giving upcoming artistes a chance to showcase their music to the public and bringing back Mo’Hits to perform on stage, songs that made our youth tick, put a smile on our faces. The concert also made history by becoming the highest grossing concert ever in Nigeria. Talk about greatness in one night.

Nigerians have not been this happy about people reuniting in a long time. Ojuelegba crooner, Wizkid and Omo baba olowo, Davido gave us a reason to scream in excitement this holiday and it was worth it. These former frenemies got on the same stage to perform Davido’s single, FIA to give us an electrifying presentation.

One Night Stand

A few Nigerian artistes can flow with a live band effectively. The easy-going Adekunle Gold owned the stage and the band with his performance. In a captivating moment that lasted a few minutes, a fan thought of no better time to propose to his girlfriend than after Adekunle’s Orente rendition. Luckily, his Sade said yes.

OLIC4

They don’t call Olamide the king of the streets for nothing. Free meals, blocked roads, 2500 uniformed men, Lagos State Government support, spectacular performances, massive fan turn up and huge publicity, OLIC4 was lit!

Falz literally came through in a [vintage] mercedes, Ycee was introduced by a mascot of dancers, Olamide pulled the roof down and Timaya, got everyone grooving without a care in the world. This is not to mention Hennessy cocktail blends that went round as the audience listened to throwback hit songs from Dj Neptune and Dj Consequence. Now, that’s Swag.
